Posted on 22 May 2010 in Men's U-20 Team

Canada's men's U-20 team completed the first day of the Internationale Cor Groenewegen Toernooi in Groenewegen, Netherlands on Saturday 22 May. Canada played three 40-minute mini matches, falling to older clubs Korea Republic (0:1), Cruz Azul (0:1), and Senegal (0:2).

Canada continues the tournament on Monday 24 May with matches against clubs Voetbalacademie Twente and FC Uitgeest. Of note, Twente was a perfect 3-0-0 while Uitgeest was a winless 0-0-3 in Saturday action. After the Monday group phase, Canada will take part in a Monday afternoon classification match.

Canada is taking part in its first camp of the 2010 season under new national U-20 head coach Valerio Gazzola. Canada's camp, which runs 13-24 May in Netherlands, is part of the team's early preparations for the 2011 CONCACAF Men's Under-20 Championship. That championship will serve as the qualification route for the FIFA U-20 World Cup.
