Canada w17 wraps up Florida camp

Canada women's U-17 team will wrap up an eight-day pre-tournament camp in Sunrise, FL, USA on Monday 30 April 2012. The camp gave U-17 coach Bryan Rosenfeld and his staff a final opportunity to prepare his 20-player squad for the upcoming 2012 CONCACAF Women's Under-17 Championship. The team will fly from Sunrise to Ciudad de Guatemala on 30 April.
Canada competes in the 2012 CONCACAF Women's Under-17 Championship from 2-12 May, with all matches to be played at the Estadio Cementos Progreso. The eight-team tournament will qualify three teams for the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup Azerbaijan 2012.
At the CONCACAF tournament, Canada will face Panama (2 May), Jamaica (4 May) and Guatemala (6 May) in the group phase. The top two teams from the group advance to the semi-final phase on 10 May and either the match for third place of championship final on 12 May. Teams from the opposite group are Bahamas, Mexico, Trinidad and Tobago and USA.
The FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup Azerbaijan 2012 runs 22 September to 13 October. Along with the three CONCACAF teams, the 16-team tournament will qualify three teams from Asia (China PR, Japan and Korea DPR), three teams from Africa (Gambia, Ghana and Nigeria), one team from Oceania (New Zealand), three teams from South America (Brazil, Colombia and Uruguay), host Azerbaijan and two more teams from Europe (to be determined in late June).
Canada has participated in both previous editions of the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup (New Zealand 2008 and Trinidad and Tobago 2010). Canada has also won three CONCACAF women's youth titles, with two won at the Under-20 level (2004 and 2008) and one won at the Under-17 level (2010).
