Canada to face Trinidad and Tobago on Thursday

Posted on 9 February 2011 in Men's U-20 Team

Canada will face Trinidad & Tobago in a Men’s U-20 International Friendly match on Thursday 10 February 2011. The match kicks off at 15.30 in Sunrise, FL, USA at the Holiday Inn Sunrise.

Canada was originally scheduled to face Trinidad & Tobago in two international matches this week. The two matches were to be played on Wednesday and Friday. The Trinidad & Tobago U-20 team was unable to arrive in USA before Wednesday, so the two-match series was switched to a single match on Thursday.

This will be Canada’s first U-20 international match of the 2011 season. Canada and Trinidad and Tobago are CONCACAF rivals, with both teams steadily making preparations for the 2011 CONCACAF Men’s Under-20 Championship in Ciudad Guatemala, Guatemala. That 12-team continental championship, which will send four teams to the FIFA U-20 World Cup Colombia 2011, runs 4-17 April.

Canadian coach Valerio Gazzola has had this squad in Florida throughout the week. The U-20 team played an exhibition match earlier in the week against the professional D.C. United club of Major League Soccer. The Canadian U-20 camp runs 5-12 February.
