Canada’s largest national grassroots soccer program, Ombrelle Active Start Soccer Fests, is set for its 17th season with a number of exciting enhancements. New for 2014, Ombrelle is introduced as the title sponsor of the long-standing community soccer program. Embarking on a new era of collaboration, Canada Soccer and Ombrelle will team-up to promote healthy outdoor living to soccer families across Canada by reinforcing the importance of sun protection and sun education.
Also new for the 2014 Canada Soccer Ombrelle Active Start Soccer Fest season are a number of fun and exciting giveaways for festival participants as provided by the program’s corporate sponsors. Each festival will receive Mott’s Fruitsations Fruit Rockets as well as Nutella prize-packs, which include a soccer ball, bag and t-shirt. In addition to the new giveaways, Amway string-bags, Canon photographer t-shirts, Kumon finger catchers and State Farm volunteer t-shirts will once again be featured in the event packages. Be sure to keep an eye out for all of the program’s sponsors as they will be attending select festivals across the country, providing additional giveaways.
In partnership with its corporate partners, the Canada Soccer Ombrelle Active Start Soccer Fest program will continue to support the grassroots activities of hundreds of community clubs from coast to coast to coast. Through its 17 years of existence, the grant-based program has contributed valuable financial and technical resources to the hosting of thousands of community soccer celebrations.
The growing popularity of the Ombrelle Active Start Soccer Fests program was demonstrated in 2013 as the program quickly reached capacity, resulting in over 100,000 active start participants enjoying the program. Highlights from last year’s season included appearances from members of Canada’s Women’s National Team at select festivals and wide array of promotional items provided to participants by the program’s sponsors.
With the official start of the 2014 season quickly approaching, applications are now being accepted via the online application form. As a reminder, all provincially sanctioned community clubs are eligible to host festivals. The application deadline is Monday, 28 April 2014.
