Canada completes play at XXVII Torneo COTIF

Canada's men's U-20 team finished in third place in Group A at the XXVII Torneo COTIF in Alcúdia, Spain. The Canucks rounded out their group play with a 1:1 draw against Equatorial Guinea. FC Santos and Valencia CF finished first and second in the group, respectively, following a 1:1 draw on Tuesday 17 August.

"It has been a positive tournament in moving towards team development," said Canada's men's U-20 head coach Valerio Gazzola.

The opposite group will round of group play on Wednesday 18 August. FC Santos will play Group B's first-place team in the final while Valencia CF will play Group B's second-place team in the match for third place. Before Wednesday, Ecuador was in first place with six points, Uzbekistan was in second place with four points, Villarreal CF was in third place with two points, and Étoile Lusitana was in fourth place with no points.

The XXVII Torneo COTIF in Alcúdia, Spain is the second tournament of the 2010 season for Canada's men's U-20 team. The Canadian team is currently preparing for next year's 2011 CONCACAF Men's Under-20 Championship. That championship will serve as the qualification route for the FIFA U-20 World Cup Colombia 2011, which runs 29 July to 20 August of next year.
